27 June 2011 Seven Female Artists to Keep an Eye on This Summer

With the summer just around the corner, major female artists are returning with new singles. F(x)’s “Hot Summer” and Secret’s “Starlight Moonlight” have already made strides on various music charts, but other female artists are also making, or already made, comebacks to heat up the summer K-Pop scene. We put together seven female artists expected make comebacks this summer. Take a look!

DSP Media released Rainbow’s new track “Sweet Dream” on June 22nd. This dreamy yet sweet pop dance number features Japan’s popular producer Daishi Dance. The members have come up with the “Dragonfly Dance,” where they move with their eyes closed, and so far it’s been well-received by fans.

On June 24th, YG Entertainment’s 2NE1 made their grand return with their new single, “I am the Best.” Produced by Teddy, “I am the Best” is a powerful track with a mixture of electronic and hip-hop, and its popularity so far has been explosive. 2NE1 is expected to release their mini-album in July, so look forward for them to lead the K-Pop trend this summer.

Next up is T-ara who is scheduled to release their new single “Roly Poly” from new album “John Travolta Wannabe” on July 1st. The same producers of their previous hit track “Bo Beep Bo Beep” wrote “Roly Poly,” and it involves retro beats that could appeal to both older and younger generations alike. The choreography is also rumored to involve a lot of retro, old school moves called “Diamond” and “ABC” dances.

And then its 4Minute’s HyunA, who is returning with her second solo track since last year’s “Change.” She’s already one of the sexiest female stars in K-Pop, and with her turning 20 this year, HyunA is expected to put on an even more sensational performance. HyunA’s agency Cube Entertainment will also release a new album for G.Na this summer, so expect two very hot female solo singers to compete for the sexy queen diva spot this summer.

After School is also making a comeback in July. Their latest single “Shampoo” reflected the more mature side of the group, but this time they’re returning with a more unique concept. They will divide into two separate groups and run their own promotions, creating a possible intra-group showdown for the summer.

JYP Entertainment is planning to put out the new album for Miss A in the coming months. The exact date of release is still undecided but they’re reportedly working on a new album for release in the summer. Last year, they made headlines with “Bad Girl Good Girl” in the summer, so their summer return this year is also highly anticipated.

Which of the above artists are you most excited about?
